In your own way, how can you help Mother Earth?

I'm used to doing my part for the environment

I'm used to doing my part for the environment, so maybe this year I'll just inflict a real conspicuous glare at people who don't even try. :P Tulad ng mga taong nagtatapon mula sa mga jeepney kahit may basurahan naman malapit sa driver!

Make it a point to diligently do garbage segregation.

Make it a point to diligently do garbage segregation. Use paper/cloth bags and reuse plastic bags. Recycle bottles and other containers.

Do small but frequent acts to help the environment

My resolution is to do small but frequent acts to help the environment. Little things such as closing the faucet or turning off the light when they are not in use will really make a difference to the environment when these "little things" are done on a large scale.

I will try to stop smoking.

I will try to stop smoking. Also, I will save used sheets of paper and recycle them. I will bring my own mug so that I can stop using styro cups.

Reinvent, re-cycle, or share

Reinvent, re-cycle, or share more of the things I may no longer have immediate need for into something that can be useful in another way or useful to someone else.

I will keep my trash in my pocket and then put it in a trash can

I will keep my trash in my pocket and then put it in a trash can when I see one. I will manage to make my trash more usable... recycle it or use it to design my scrap book...

I will continue not to smoke

For a cleaner future I promise that I will continue not to smoke and convince others to stop smoking as well. Cigarette butts and cigarette smoke are small inconveniences that add up to one huge inconvenience for everyone else and pollute the environment.

Never crumple my scratch paper

Never crumple my scratch paper because crumpled paper takes up more space in the trash bin. This will be my way of helping in solid waste management, especially in alleviating the scarcity of space for trash.

I will stop using plastic straws when I dine in or eat out

I am going to stop using plastic straws when I dine in or eat out. Once you use a plastic straw, the only thing left to do is to throw it, and if you think about it, it really is such a waste to have all that one-time-use-plastic floating around.

Barkada is a group of friends – but not just ''a group of friends''. As with many Filipino words, it is difficult to translate barkada to a single English word - ''clique'' and ''gang'' come close, but do not quite capture the essence of barkada. Clique connotes exclusivity and snobbishness. Gang, in the informal sense, mimics barkada but lacks the lifelong bond that differentiates barkada from a mere social group. The best definition of barkada is probably ''family'', minus the pre-requisite blood relationship. Barkada is the group of peers that one is always comfortable with, knowing that he will be accepted no matter what.
